formulate alternative solutions and program priorities

The meeting was packaged in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) initiated by elderly activist, Adhi Santika, who is currently also a member of the Drafting Team for the West Java Provincial Regional Regulation on Social Welfare.

This meeting discussed aspects that will be incorporated into the academic paper. This paper will later serve as the basis for the development of the Regional Regulation Draft (Raperda) on the Elderly.

Head Division of Social Welfare Development for Jakarta Social Agency, Dewi Aryati Ningrum said this activity was held to gather aspirations and direct experiences from representatives of the elderly in Jakarta.

"We will work together to collect data and information about various problems faced by the elderly and formulate alternative solutions and program priorities as an effort to improve the welfare of the elderly," she said, Tuesday (9/23).

Meanwhile, Adhi Santika stated that the preparation of this academic paper is to produce conclusions and recommendations regarding the direction, perspective, scope and content of the material that will be regulated in regional regulations regarding the elderly.

His party has identified and collected problems faced by the elderly in Jakarta, including economic issues, because many elderly people continue to work due to financial needs.

In addition, social assistance is considered to be unequal, access to health services is limited, public infrastructure and facilities are less friendly to the elderly, and there is limited education and adequate social support for the elderly.

He hopes that through this meeting, the academic paper that has been prepared can become a strong foundation for the content of the Regional Regulation Draft on the Elderly so that it can become a regional regulation that can accommodate the needs and interests of the community.
